I wanted to say thanks to all who came out and helped make the 2nd Annual Missouri Water Polo Alumni Invite a fun success. Thanks to Ray Kreienkamp, Steve Adock, Kevin Kerber and Gregg Emde for the free reffing. And a huge thanks to Harrison Klemm for the help setting up and running the pool. I’m grateful for all the support and open to suggestions for next year. The bog plan is to move it to the Saturday after Thanksgiving to try and get more people involved. Thanks again.

Congrats to Miguel Figueras who was recently honored with a Zone Recognition Award. USA Water Polo, in conjunction with the Midwest Zone, presented Coach Miguel the Bill Barnett Distinguished Coaching Award! With the certificate, Coach Miguel received a letter that highlighted his contributions to the sport, dedication and service, and excellence in coaching.

Miguel will be flying out to California in April for an awards ceremony and there may be an article regarding the event in an upcoming issue of Skipshot Magazine.

And a belated Congrats to Gregg Emde and the Lindenwood University Lions Men’s team for winning the CWPA Men’s National Club title by taking down to #1 ranked San Diego State 13-8.

And Mark your calendar for the next Fundraiser for Missouri Water Polo: Kegs for a Cause. It takes place Friday January 23rd from 6 pm – 9 pm at the International Tap House in the Central West End located at 16 South Euclid Ave. How it works is they will name a beer or two where a portion of the proceeds from each of that type of beer ordered goes to Missouri Water Polo. So all you have to do to contribute is head to ITap that night and order at least 1 of the types of beer that I tell you too! Isn’t that easy? And they have promised that it will be a type that is mainstream enough for everyone. So tell your friends and College aged Kids to head to ITap on Jan. 23rd from 6-9pm.
